Other conditions we can support
Some people come to My Complete Health with long‑term diagnoses such as fibromyalgia or cervical spondylosis (age‑related neck changes) and want help with pain, stiffness and staying as active as possible. This page explains how chiropractic care, sports massage and exercise can support you alongside the medical care you receive from your GP or specialist.
Fibromyalgia
Fibromyalgia is a long‑term condition that causes widespread pain, fatigue, unrefreshing sleep and often issues with concentration and mood. It is thought to involve changes in how the brain and spinal cord process pain signals, rather than damage in one specific joint or muscle. Management is usually led by a GP or rheumatology team and focuses on education, graded physical activity, sleep and mood support, and sometimes medication.
Chiropractic care and sports massage do not treat fibromyalgia itself, but they may help some people with:
- Reducing local muscle tension and improving comfort in painful areas.
- Gentle movement and exercise plans that are paced to your energy levels.
- Posture, breathing and relaxation strategies to support day‑to‑day function.
Treatment is always adapted to sensitivity levels and can be combined with the exercise, psychological and medical approaches recommended in fibromyalgia guidelines.

Cervical spondylosis (age‑related neck changes)
Cervical spondylosis describes “wear and tear” changes in the discs and joints of the neck that become more common with age. Many people have these changes on scans without symptoms, but some develop neck pain, stiffness, headaches or arm symptoms. Most cases are managed conservatively with advice, pain relief, exercise and lifestyle changes, with surgery reserved for a small number of people with significant nerve or spinal cord compression.
At My Complete Health, support for people with cervical spondylosis may include:
- Gentle mobilisation or manipulation of the neck and upper back where appropriate.
- Soft‑tissue work to ease muscle tension and headaches.
- Postural advice and workstation changes to reduce strain.
- Individual exercise programmes to improve neck and upper‑back strength and mobility.
If there are signs of marked nerve or spinal cord involvement (such as significant weakness, changes in walking, hand function or bladder/bowel control), medical assessment and imaging are essential and will be discussed with you.
Working alongside your medical team
For both fibromyalgia and cervical spondylosis, diagnosis, tests and medication are the responsibility of your GP or specialist. Our role is to:
- Help you move more comfortably and confidently.
- Support strength, mobility and pacing.
- Work as part of your wider plan, not in place of it.
If you are unsure whether chiropractic care is appropriate for your specific condition, this can be discussed at your first appointment and, if needed, with your medical team.
Frequently asked questions
Chiropractic care cannot cure fibromyalgia, because it is a long‑term condition linked to how the nervous system processes pain and is managed primarily by your GP or rheumatology team. It may, however, help some people with symptom relief, movement, posture and pacing as part of a wider management plan that includes exercise, sleep and mood support.
Chiropractic treatment can usually be adapted for people with fibromyalgia by using gentler techniques, shorter sessions and careful pacing of exercise. Your clinician will discuss your symptoms, sensitivity and past experiences first, and work with you to find an approach that feels manageable alongside your medical care.
Cervical spondylosis itself (age‑related wear and tear in the neck) cannot be reversed, but conservative care can often help with related neck pain, stiffness and some arm symptoms. Chiropractic support may include gentle mobilisation, soft‑tissue work, posture advice and exercises, with prompt medical referral if there are signs of significant nerve or spinal cord compression.
