Why Choose Sports Massage?

Sports massage can play a key role in recovery, injury prevention, and maintaining overall wellbeing. It helps reduce muscle tightness, improve flexibility, and restore balance after physical activity or long hours of sitting.

Our approach focuses on supporting you as an individual – whether you’re a runner preparing for an event, a regular gym-goer, or simply managing everyday aches and stiffness.

We also work in close partnership with Chiropractor Matthew Hewitson, ensuring that anyone who needs additional care can benefit from a joined-up, multidisciplinary approach.

What to Expect

Every appointment begins with a brief consultation to understand your needs and preferences.

Your therapist will then tailor the treatment to focus on your key areas, combining a range of techniques to release tension and restore mobility.

Afterwards, you’ll receive guidance on stretching, recovery, or follow-up care where needed.

Optional treatments such as acupuncture or dry needling may be offered by Elaine as part of a comprehensive recovery plan.

Frequently asked questions – Sports Massage Woking

Yes. Sports massage targets the muscles surrounding the spine, helping to release tension, improve posture, and reduce stiffness. It can be particularly effective for muscle-related back pain, sciatica, and postural imbalances. Combining massage with advice from our chiropractor can provide even more comprehensive support.

Some areas may feel tender, especially where tension is present, but your therapist will always work at a level that feels right for you.

Not at all. Many people book sports massages to ease back or shoulder pain from work or daily life, as well as to support an active lifestyle.

Many people find that a session every 3–4 weeks helps maintain muscle health, though frequency can vary depending on training and recovery needs.

For pre-race preparation, a massage is best scheduled 2–3 days before an event. This allows muscles to relax and recover without leaving them sore on race day. For post-race recovery, a massage can be booked within 24–48 hours to reduce soreness and support healing.
