Who is pre & post natal massage for?

Our maternity massage is suitable for:

Expectant mothers from the second trimester onwards, with midwife/healthcare provider approval

New mothers from around six weeks postpartum (or after your postnatal check), including after C‑section once cleared

Anyone experiencing common pregnancy or post‑natal symptoms such as:

  • Lower back or hip pain
  • Tight shoulders and neck from feeding and carrying
  • General tension, stress and poor sleep
  • Heaviness or swelling in the legs

You do not need to be in pain to benefit. Many clients book simply to create some calm, supportive time for themselves during a big life change.

What can pre & post natal massage help with?

While every session is individual, people often seek treatment for:

Aching lower back, hips and pelvis
Tight, sore shoulders and upper back
Neck tension and headaches related to posture and sleep
General muscle tightness and feeling “held” or on edge
Difficulty switching off and sleeping well
Support with recovery and relaxation after birth

Massage will not fix everything, but it can be a helpful part of looking after yourself alongside medical care, movement and rest.

What to expect from your appointment

Your session begins with a short, friendly conversation about:

  • How far along you are (or how many weeks postpartum)
  • Any medical history, pregnancy complications or birth details
  • Your main symptoms and what you hope to get from the session

Treatment is then tailored to you. We use side‑lying positions with cushions and supports so you can relax comfortably and safely. Techniques are adapted depending on your trimester, symptoms and preferences.

Most people describe the session as calming and relieving, with time to breathe and switch off as well as work on tight or achy areas.

Is prenatal massage safe?

We treat from the second trimester onwards and ask that you have approval from your midwife or healthcare provider before booking, especially if you have any complications or a high‑risk pregnancy.

Our prenatal massages are designed to be safe and comfortable throughout pregnancy. We adjust positioning and pressure based on your trimester and how you are feeling on the day. If anything does not feel right, we will adapt or pause the treatment.

Post‑natal massage and recovery

After birth, your body is recovering from a major physical event. Post‑natal massage can:

  • Aid muscle recovery and ease tension from feeding, lifting and carrying
  • Support posture as you adapt to new routines
  • Help with common discomforts such as back pain, neck tightness and headaches
  • Provide a dedicated space to rest and recharge

We recommend waiting until at least six weeks after birth or until you have been cleared at your postnatal check, particularly after a C‑section.

“I really enjoy working with expectant and new mums. Pregnancy and the early weeks with a baby are such a big change physically and emotionally, and I love being able to offer a safe, calming space where women can feel looked after.

My aim is to help you feel more comfortable in your body, whether that’s easing a tight back, relaxing tired shoulders from feeding, or just giving you an hour to breathe and recharge. Every session is tailored to you and your stage of pregnancy or post‑natal recovery.”
