In his influential book “Start With Why,” Simon Sinek explores the idea that successful individuals and organisations are driven by a clear purpose. Sinek’s central premise is encapsulated in the concept of the “Golden Circle,” which consists of three layers: Why, How, and What. The “Why” represents the core purpose or belief that inspires action and drives success, while the “How” and “What” refers to the processes and products resulting from this core belief.

This book was the main thing that started my journey to becoming a chiropractor. I had left the teaching industry due to not liking how I was treated, the reward wasn’t there in terms of enjoyment and how I felt day to day. My main motivation for becoming a healthcare practitioner was to help people not suffer the way I had suffered from injuries. Whenever I saw a practitioner they only cared about my money not my condition and never explained what was going on and that they cared about what the pain was doing to me. This led me to want to help people who have also felt this way and it turns out lots of people have felt the same way.

My Why

When patients come and see me the main message I get after is that people feel comfortable. I create a comfortable environment to get everything off their chest about everything that has been bothering them. I treat them the way I would have wanted to have been treated as a patient after having had many different experiences within healthcare. Please do feel free to read my patient Google reviews which I am very proud of as helping patients is my why!

This book challenged me to identify my own “Why” and align my actions and strategies with this deeper purpose. Sinek’s message is clear: starting with “Why” not only differentiates why I do what I do but allows me to have a clear message that is portrayed to my patients.

If you’d like a helping hand from a practitioner who cares about you then why not book yourself in for an assessment?
